Ez Coder / Ez Control
![]() |
The EzCoder
and EzControl suite of repeater programming tools is designed to make it
a relatively simple task to both configure your microprocessor based
repeater controller for routine control, and to actually perform those
routine control functions.
These tools are designed to use your Windows based computer as a 'smart speedialer' through the sending of DTMF tones via the sound card with transmitter PTT control via the serial port. Computer users presently equipped to operate (on repeater control frequencies) many of the more popular HF data modes via 'RigBlaster' type of interfaces are ready to use these programs immediately.
Ez CoderEz Coder is the tool to use to send the configuration programming to your repeater controller. This tool allows you to set access codes, ID's, timers, and other parameters in a 'plain english' manner and with a logical organization of commands. Additionally, a legible printout can be made of all commands, autodials, etc, which can be distributed to those in the control operator group. The configuration information is stored on your computer and can also be distributed to others in the control group. Ez Coder also allows for the creation of a custom command data file that is used by the control operators for sending the actual commands to the repeater. The commands available for the control operators is selectable and can include all commands or just a few, at your discretion.
Ez ControlEz Control is the tool used by a repeater control operator to send the control codes to the repeater. Ez Control presents the operator with a set of easily read buttons to allow for quick, timely, and accurate control operation.. No more fumbling for illegible or confusing code sheets. Additionally, there are provisions for the sending of WAV sound files for special announcements. Both EzCoder and EzControl utilize a data file that is easily edited in a text editor (like Notepad) should the user wish to customize the commands. The pop-up-help that accompanies the commands in EzCoder can also be customized.
FreewareCurrently, both EzControl and EzCoder are freely available for the individual use of anyone who admits that they smile when they see a rubber ducky. The legal mumbo-jumbo is that DuckTronics maintains ownership of the program but grants the user the rights to use it for free. Users cannot legally redistribute the program or to reverse-engineer it. An exception is granted for a user to make up to 15 copies of the program for members of their repeater group. All other rights are retained by DuckTronics.
